“I have been an international medium now for three years, and what a journey it has been for me! Having the ability to link loved ones and friends who have crossed over to the world of spirit and to give so many people closure and direction in their lives is one of the biggest joys I could bring to my life. To see the look of relief on a mother’s face when I have linked to her son who has passed over in such tragic circumstances, when she finds out he is alright, happy, around her, helping and guiding her through life’s journey. and what a journey we are all on”!!!

Mediums are just ordinary people who usually have every-day jobs and families. A medium is a link between this world and the spirit world and everybody alive has mediumistic capabilities of some kind. It’s up to you whether you wish to use and develop them.
Mediumship can be divided into two types; Mental Mediumship and Physical Mediumship. I work with the principle of Mental Mediumship, which can be split into three categories, as follows:
Clairvoyance – a person who is clairvoyant can see spirits. This means they can see the person communicating in their mind’s eye, which like me, can be in the form of a picture or like watching a television show in your head. Some mediums can see spirits with their physical eyes as if there is another person in the room with them. The medium will describe what they see to whoever is having the message or reading. It’s not always people that mediums see. It can also be animals or even objects and symbols. Speaking of animals, my dog Angel also sees spirit very clearly and you should never underestimate your pet.
Clauraudience - A clairaudient medium hears the spirit communicating with them. Again, this can be voices in the medium’s head or just thoughts running through their mind. Sometimes a medium will actually hear someone talking to them with their physical ears. The medium will not only ‘hear’ voices but can also be given music or singing.
Clairsentience – Taking the form of the medium ‘sensing’ a spirit presence, usually through feelings. The medium often feels as if they are being touched, a feeling of cold or even a slight breeze wafting past them. Sometimes, they can have the feeling of cobwebs on their face or can smell fragrances associated with the spirit person, like perfume or cigars etc.
Mediums will use one or more of these forms of communication in order to convey messages from the spirit world.
PHYSICAL MEDIUMSHIP – This sort of mediumship was popular in the Victorian times and early twentieth century, although it is still very much practiced today. The energy used by spirits is much greater in this form of communication than with mental mediumship. In most cases a medium goes into a deep trance (there are different levels of trance) for the spirit to work through them. The spirit will use the medium’s body to communicate. It should be stressed here that the medium is not possessed by the spirit and should be in control at all times.
The types of physical phenomenon usually encountered are; transfiguration, ectoplasm, clear voice, materialisation and apports. Let’s have a closer look at what this means:
Transfiguration - Here, the face of the spirit person can be seen formed over the medium’s face. The correct use of lighting is necessary as shadows can appear, making people think they have seen someone that isn’t really there. The face can be very clear at times, with the medium’s face completely disappearing.
Ectoplasm - It has not yet been established that ectoplasm arises from any particular part of the medium’s body. It may arise from ‘energies’ generated through the blending of the mediums spirit and the physical faculties. Under trance, control and direction, ectoplasm can emerge from any of the body’s orifices. It can appear in a semi-solid misty state or in a more substantial form.
Trance – This form of mediumship allows the spirit to control the medium’s body for communication. This could mean using not only the voice box, but also moving various parts of the body. There are various stages of trance; from slight over showing, to full deep trance, where the medium seems to be asleep. Whilst in trance, the medium will be aware of a spirit around them and will communicate all that is told to them without interaction of their own thoughts. Deep trance is obviously better for this as the medium is not aware of what is being said by the spirit to those present. The medium should be in no danger if the session is correctly overseen and controlled.
Apports - An apport is a physical object brought through by a spirit usually to the group of people sitting for communication. The objects can be almost anything; from flowers, books, jewellery and even money (usually coins). People do not usually sit for the purpose of bringing apports through, they just happen during a seance or close circle if a spirit wishes to do so for whatever reason.
Both mental and physical mediumship comes down to a four letter word – C.E.R.T. which means contact, evidence, reason for coming and tie up. I learnt this when I was developing and training to become a medium and I use it every time because at the end of the day, the sole job of a medium is to prove that life is eternal, and death is just the beginning of the next step in our Soul’s journey.
I hope this has given you some insight into mediumship.
Keep smiling
