Since More to Life started some three and a half years ago, we have come across many wonderful people who work with sincerity, honesty and integrity. Kevin and Christine Core have been amongst them. With love and compassion they have trained many, many therapists in Angelic Reiki and have supported More to Life in so many ways.

When Kevin passed earlier this year, we asked Christine to share her experiences with us – the article features here as well as in the Winter edition of More to Life. It is a beautiful insight into a very personal time. We are sure it will touch you..

The Death of a Loved One.

It is now just over five weeks since my husband, spiritual mentor, teacher, and friend, Kevin Core, went through the process that we know as death. For spirit it is birth. It is our birth back to knowing our true spiritual self, infinite, all knowing and all loving.
The months leading up to this transition had been a great lesson to me. I had never been involved with the medical fraternity, strange as it may seem, so all I knew was the public face as represented in the news. So I was put in a position where I had to welcome their expertise, love, compassion and help. On the evening of his death, Kevin’s physical body was in a great deal of pain and we had called the emergency doctor. I was sat on the bed at one side of him and a nurse on the other. When the emergency doctor arrived, a slim, soft and compassionate woman entered the room. She placed her hand on his back at the level of his higher heart centre, and as she did so the physical heart stopped. From her point of view her action was to check the beat of the heart. What I perceived in that moment, as she stood in front of his body curled over the edge of the bed, is that spirit were using her contact to give Kevin a blessing. She facilitated the connection that he needed to make the final transition.

As we laid him on the bed, the pain was gone and his face was radiant with the buddhic smile; Light, love and grace radiating into the room.

In our Angelic Reiki workshops, Kevin and I had taught about the death and dying process based on Kevin’s personal experiences working in a hospice, “The Tibetan Book of the Dead” and “The Egyptian Book of the Dead” (1240 BC). So I was familiar with the process. This process that we had taught from our own understanding was actually confirmed by Kevin, through a channelling from the Angelic Realms, 10 days after his death. This channelling was given during the world wide celebrations of his life a week after his death.

There are three parts to the process of death

The first one being the individual’s own preparation for the journey. As human beings, we travel a lot and make the appropriate preparations, but rarely do we prepare and plan for the most important journey we are ever going to make. In meditation, Kevin had planned thoroughly for his journey through the Bardo, the astral planes and the fifth dimension in order to rejoin the Masters and Angels in the finer vibrations of consciousness.

The second part is the service and healing done by the one witnessing the death. Gratitude for the life lived and gratitude to the Diva of the physical body for its service, are important parts of the releasing process. Invoking Archangel Michael and all archetypes that aid this passage; Persephone, Anubis, Nut etc. cuts the cords to all earthly desires. Sandalwood incense, a candle and orange light aid the process of the consciousness’s abstraction from the physical sheath All this allowing an unobstructed passage through the next levels of consciousness and come to rest in a place of bliss.

The third part actually comes prior to the moment of the last breath and this is to arrange for all one’s farewells to be sorted out and completion with family and friends. It is amazing how old family wounds can be healed and forgiven in the weeks leading up to death. Death is an amazing catalyst for this. Also supporting what might seem mundane processes of completion, like sorting out the garage and paying bills are important aspects of the completion process. A sense of completion in every way is a great support to ease the deathing process

It was with a great sense of grace and peace that I felt Kevin around me as I made the preparations for the ceremony to celebrate his life and cremate his body. His presence was palatable and at times I could actually smell him, the gentle scent of his body.
