How did I become involved with Reiki?

I guess my natural spiritual nature started to re-emerge when I went to live in Canada, I spent about eighteen months there, I was living on my own for most of that time which gave me the opportunity to find my real self.

I was invited by a friend to a place called Bragg Creek, primarily a native community who had recently built a new community centre and were opening it officially with ceremonies being performed by their tribal shaman. Despite all of the obstacles that modern society could throw at them, these people had managed to maintain their spiritual culture and way of life.

I was introduced to the shaman, a heavy set man with classic native features and a presence that had to be felt to be believed, I was totally in awe of what I had seen and experienced that night. I read everything I could about the North American shamanic culture and practices, reading books that would almost jump out at me, the right books that I needed to read. I was fascinated.

When I eventually came back to the UK I found it quite difficult to readjust, this was a very traumatic time and caused me to take a lot of time off work. During that time I accompanied my mother to her spiritualist church in Liverpool. I went for a private sitting and as a result, a sequence of events was set in motion.

The medium told me she saw me high up in a church during a previous life, which was symbolic to her; indicating that I was a priest or holy man of some sort. She saw me standing next to a witch doctor (a shaman) surrounded by Indians. She received messages to tell me I was a gifted healer and was not fulfilling my life purpose.

Several months later I met Carol-Anne Fraser at the Inglewood healing centre. She was to become my Reiki master and teacher. Right from the very start I knew that this was meant to be.

THE FIRST MEETING
I had been learning Reiki for about twelve months and had progressed very rapidly. I knew this was taking me somewhere special. I arranged to complete my Reiki Masters Degree in June at Stonehenge.

Before the trip we met up for a ‘Reiki Share’. It was the first time I had met Tracy and I connected to her on a spiritual level, it was like I had known her forever. We met again when Carol-Anne asked if I would give a lift to a couple of people; one of those people was Tracy.

When we arrived in Amesbury, lunch in a little pub was a good opportunity to get to know each other a little better. We spent a couple of hours enjoying ourselves and talking about how we had become involved with Reiki. I tried to remember where I had met Tracy before, as it was like meeting a best friend that I hadn’t seen for many years. More than that I felt very protective towards her if that’s the right word, I mean I instinctively felt like I wanted to look after her.

THE MESSAGES (FRIDAY)
On the Friday morning I spent some time self healing and meditating. I received several pieces of information; the first was a name; John Docherty, the second was a date the 13th and the third was just the words ‘we invite you to join us’. None of this information meant anything to me.

The rest of the day was incredible, the energy was just something else; being in the company of so many like minded people was like being plugged into an electric socket after running on half empty batteries, the atmosphere was quite extraordinary.

Our first attunement was held in the beautiful hotel gardens in the shade of a magnificent old tree, it was quite magical. We had our first formal introduction to intuitive healing.

We were paired off and asked to provide Reiki treatments to our partners not using the standard hand positions that are taught during Reiki 1 & 2 but just allow our instincts to draw us to an area of the body that we felt required attention.

I was drawn to the head and neck area of my partner; my hands were on fire and vibrating much more intensely than they ever had before. I didn’t need to make physical contact with the body as I could feel the aura as an almost solid form.

Carol-Anne asked why I had gone to that area of the body, she then explained that my partner had actually had a fall the day before and was in significant pain due to this, a fact up until that point I was totally unaware of. My partner said that she felt like her head was in a vice during the treatment, although I had made no physical contact with her.

I continued to massage the aura of the effected area until progress had been made. The next day she felt much, much better.

STONEHENGE (SATURDAY)
Our final Reiki attunement was to take place inside the circle at Stonehenge at about 8pm. The group was large so it was decided to carry out the attunement in two groups.

During the ceremony it is not unusual to see images, memories etc. The images that came to me were incredible – amongst them was a vision of the stones many years earlier with a pathway leading up to them, and a village close by.

Note: This took place on Saturday 30th May 2009, two days before the channel 4 Time Team special was broadcast which showed everything that I had seen.

I was totally blown away by what I had seen; it was incredible, a very emotional experience. I felt at home within the stones, like I belonged there, at one with the energy that had existed there for thousands of years. This is a place that is not just a great architectural achievement but a place of great spiritual energy, which was almost tangible, NO! Not almost, it was tangible I could feel it.

Following the attunement, we had some time left to wander in and around the stones. I started to walk around the inside of the outer circle of stones. I was facing towards the inside of the stones with my back to the outside, when I had this sensation of being watched. I turned around only to be met by Tracy’s gaze. She was standing about a hundred feet away, outside of the stones. I felt like I was back in time, the path was there and everything.

BACK AT THE HOTEL (SATURDAY)
Back at the hotel, I mentioned to Carol the images I sometimes see when I am meditating. I described what I had picked up whilst meditating on Friday morning, firstly the name/s; John Docherty. Tracy immediately looked at me wide eyed and said that her maiden name was Docherty and that one of here grandfathers was called John. She had actually seen them for the first time whilst receiving her first attunement in the hotel garden on Friday afternoon.

Next I mentioned the 13th at which point Tracy’s eyes opened even wider. Her birthday is 13th October!

I asked her what her grandfather John’s second name was, she replied “Heyes, John Heyes, but everyone called him Jack”. I responded by telling her that my grandfathers’ name was also named John Hayes (spelled H-a-y-e-s).

I said that there was just one other thing and that was the words that didn’t really make any sense ‘we invite you to join us’. Tracy quite literally nearly fell off of here chair. She and her sister had been writing out invitations just before leaving home and had included those words within those invitations.

I decided to throw caution to the wind and ignore the possibility of looking like a total fool, as I told Tracy how I had been feeling towards her. To my amazement she burst into tears -she had been feeling the same!

She too had seen a path and when we had looked at each she had seen an image from long ago. When I was a priest within the stones, she had been my daughter, who was not allowed into the circle and had to watch from outside. Only certain people, such as priests had been allowed into the circle She then told me about the village that she has seen also.

Note: A theory that was suggested some two days later on the channel 4 Time Team special.

Back home, we arranged for both of us to see Ally Thompson (a psychic medium). We agreed before we went in to see Ally that we would say nothing of our experience to ensure that the reading was totally objective.

Ally could see an energy that covered both of us although we were sitting several feet apart. She believed that I had a daughter, which I don’t, not in this life anyhow! Ally could see us connected in a previous life during the Great War.

This confirmed what we already knew, I believe that we are two souls who have travelled many life times together and met again in this one after a long absence.

Where do we go from here? I’m not quite sure but I’m certain we will find out .I don’t believe that our meeting was a coincidence but part of a much bigger plan, whatever that may be.
